LOCATION
Our pension is located in a quiet dead end road and so close to the ocean that you can hear and see the waves breaking against the shoreline.
All shops, restaurants and tour operators are only a few minutes' walk away. The famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of the unique wine growing on Pico can be reached within 10 minutes.
Just 200 m from our the ‘Calma do Mar’ you will find a swimming pool including natural pools and another public bathing area of Madalena. With its selection of good and original restaurants and tour providers for hiking, trips to the Atlantic and diving, Madalena offers the ideal basis for your vacation in the Azores.
From here you can easily get to the other islands of the central group with the daily ferry connections.

HOW TO GET TO US
Airport
Various airlines fly to the Azores. There are flights from Lisbon directly to Pico (PIX) several times a week. Another possibility is the arrival via Faial (HOR), our neighboring island, and the short onward journey to Pico (30 min) by ferry.
With a stay of at least 7 nights, we are happy to offer you the transport from Pico Airport to our guesthouse. We are happy to help you find a flight.
Ferries
It is only an 8-10 minute walk from our house to Madalena's ferry port.
From here, connections to Faial and São Jorge start several times a day (depending on the schedule, also from the port of São Roque).
Day trips are possible, the exact ferry connections are depending on the season.

Rental car
You can get to us by rental car as follows:
Leave the airport - the parking spaces on the right - towards Madalena. Turn right at the 1st crossing and follow the road to the coastal road. Turn left and follow the coastal road to Madalena.
In Madalena, follow the road past the ferry port to the church. Turn right in front of the church.
Turn right after approx. 250 m (2nd street).
Follow the road with a long left curve and the signs 'Calma do Mar'.
Take the 1st street on the right. Our guesthouse is the 2nd house on the left.
ATTENTION :
When using a GPS, please enter the house number 'Lote 6' because the house number '6' is in a different location!

Public transport
There are two buses circling pico island two times per day. One of them goes from Madalena to Piedade and back following the north coast. The other bus line takes the south route from Madalena to Ribeirinha and back. Although the buses are a nice way to circle the island and they are a good possibility to get you somewhere you will not have much time at any stop if you still want to make it back to Madalena the same day.
